The wild bash in the southern US city started as a Christian holiday of excess before the lean period of Lent. But it has transformed into such a huge party that religious protesters target the event with banners condemning the debauchery. Mardi Gras, French for Shrove Tuesday, is traditionally held the day before the start of Lent on Ash Wednesday but in New Orleans it has become a three-week party of colour, extravagant costumes and nudity. Floats drive through the streets on numerous parades and the final one was held on Shrove Tuesday earlier this week. The tradition of beads of necklaces has brought colour to proceedings and sees women flash their breasts in exchange for jewellery. Wild pics have emerged from this year showing revellers flashing their breasts for beads on the infamous Bourbon Street in the French Quarter.

Nothing goes to waste as they recycle everything from the past at Mardi Gras World. The brewery was once part of the McEwan drinking empire, founded by William McEwan in with money borrowed from his family. Fountainbridge was a prime location with its excellent transport links provided by the railway and Union Canal which still runs alongside the site and provides a nice urban amble. McEwan soon established a presence in the Scottish market, before setting his sights on colonial trade.

Don't get me wrong, I have now problems with the female form. Nudity tends to happen when alcohol is involved and Bourbon is a street with many bars. You'll no doubt see a few boobs here and there but for the most part it's not "Girls Gone Wild. By the way, this kind of craziness is indeed typical of Mardi Gras on Bourbon.
